Nigel Brown, Principal of Life Planning Matters™, spent more than thirty years in the financial services industry, serving his clients by focusing on retirement financial planning.
In 1999, he started to change this focus by researching, testing and improving processes that guide baby boomers through the transition from work into retirement. The biological calendar has been reconfigured to create a whole new stage in the life cycle - a period of personal renaissance inserted somewhere after middle age, but before old age. Totalling about 30,000 days, the question for many is "How will I spend this time?"
Nigel has addressed many of these concerns personally - he is a baby boomer himself! He has completed more than 200 research interviews with a cross section of baby boomers who are within thinking distance of retirement. Most people do not have a plan. Even fewer have a strategy to implement a plan. In an ongoing study only a minority have any retirement planning. Of those who do, it’s generally a financial plan. These men and women are over 50, retired, partly retired or within thinking distance of retiring. They lack a “social portfolio” for Their Time for broadening a perspective on their work and relationships and for tapping into their real potential.”
Building strong working relationships with some of the best innovative thinkers, researchers and material providers in the life planning sector, Nigel has a leadership role in an international life planning network of like minded professionals who are asking their clients, “What will bring meaning and purpose to your life?”
He is a pioneer of retirement lifestyle consulting and coaching in Canada. He has delivered individual and group programs that equip participants with greater confidence in creating a "social portfolio plan." He has spoken at conferences and special client events.
